| So, I've now engaged in attempting to blog in two
locations (xanga/myspace). I'm going to try not to be lame and post the same
thing in both spots...so you each get different stuff....collect them
all! or...both.... So i've really started digging this symphonic metal
stuff. Example bands would include: Nightwish, Visions of
Atlantis, Epica, and Operetika to name few. I think I'd like to
put together a combo that does a similar style of music.
I've pitched the idea to some other musicians, and most seemed
interested (suprisingly the singers were the most interested...where i
thought they would feel wasteful of their talent to sing in a metal
band...but i think thats cool...so anyway). I hope I can
get up the nerve to invite them over sometime to just play.
On Thursday night I got my first group all to myself during
teaching time at the youth group deal I help with on thursday
nights. It was really awesome. I had no idea what I was
supposed to talk about...and, although the group was only 3 6th
graders, they were really smart...and thus intimidating to me. I
was supposed to guide them through Genesis 12, which is the begining of
the story of Abram, which there isn't much to say about at this point,
and I quickly became panicked because I wasn't prepared enough to be
able to deliver a churchy message (which i imagined was what was
expected of me in my duty as a leader). What was cool
though, is they totally spoke up and asked really good questions, and
expressed what they were interested in knowing , and they were driven
to read more and more...so much more and more, that we ended up reading
10 minutes into game time! I'm personally inspired by the hunger
to discover, and it was everything I could do to get out of thier way
and not try to turn it into something churchy. It was a wild time, infact in
hindsight, I kind of feel unnecessary, like I didn't really do
anything. It was like watching God operate incarnate.

| So, some of you already know that I help with a saturday night
... event (avoiding word 'service') . Our objective is to be
"seeker oriented" which, in our model, means our target group is non(or
new)-christian.
Our attendance however is mostly established christians (some
who have been christians for three times longer than I've been alive),
and as I look at what we do every Saturday I'm quite certain that
before I was a christian I would have zero interest in being
there. So i think its great that the people who spend sat nights
with us do; I'm just a bit confused about the whole deal.
I'm thinking maybe we need to make a greater effort to step out of our
comfortable "churchy" format to allow others (our target group) to be
more comfortable, maybe even enticing them to come through a secondary
event. I'm just thinking it might be bringing me to close to
marketing God, which God certainly doesn't need me to do for him.
Maybe its all just a sign that our target group should be long term
christians rather than young/non christians.
Ugh, normally writing it out helps. Well let me know what ya think, I've gotta just keep listening.

| so superwoman58 pointed me at this...I was kinda suprised with this one
since I've found that free tests tend to be cruddy. I think it
does pretty well

report for: Eric

Rationals,
are the problem solving temperament, particularly if the problem has to
do with the many complex systems that make up the world around us.
Rationals might tackle problems in organic systems such as plants and
animals, or in mechanical systems such as railroads and computers, or
in social systems such as families and companies and governments. But
whatever systems fire their curiosity, Rationals will analyze them to
understand how they work, so they can figure out how to make them work
better.
In working with problems, Rationals try to find solutions that have
application in the real world, but they are even more interested in the
abstract concepts involved, the fundamental principles or natural laws
that underlie the particular case. And they are completely pragmatic
about their ways and means of achieving their ends. Rationals don't
care about being politically correct. They are interested in the most
efficient solutions possible, and will listen to anyone who has
something useful to teach them, while disregarding any authority or
customary procedure that wastes time and resources.
Rationals have an insatiable hunger to accomplish their goals and
will work tirelessly on any project they have set their mind to. They
are rigorously logical and fiercely independent in their thinking--are
indeed skeptical of all ideas, even their own--and they believe they
can overcome any obstacle with their will power. Often they are seen as
cold and distant, but this is really the absorbed concentration they
give to whatever problem they're working on. Whether designing a
skyscraper or an experiment, developing a theory or a prototype
technology, building an aircraft, a corporation, or a strategic
alliance, Rationals value intelligence, in themselves and others, and
they pride themselves on the ingenuity they bring to their problem
solving.
Rationals are very scarce, comprising as little as 5 to 10 percent of the population.
But because of their drive to unlock the secrets of nature, and to develop new
technologies, they have done much to shape our world.
The Four types of Rationals are:
Architects (INTP) | Masterminds (INTJ) | Inventors (ENTP) | Field Marshals (ENTJ)

| So now I've gotten questions like "are you dead"...because I
havn't been posting...we'll...no the rumors are wrong...I'm not
dead...I'm just rationing the posting so that each tastee morsel is
enjoyed to its very core.
So I had an adventure today...well a little. So I was
teaching infant and child CPR and a friend of mine that I havn't seen a
couple years was in my class. Class went pretty well, but we
found out afterwards that she had locked her keys in the car...which
really sucks...and having done it myself a number of times didn't want
to just leave her there alone...so we waited and waited and AAA never
came...we waited an hour and they never came...I had to leave to get to
worship on time...no bass player = no funk (and we've got the
funk)...so she coerced me into leaving...but still havn't heard from
her...maybe she's still standing in that parking lot? All I can say is AAA is hardly a service from what I've seen.

| Stopped into crusade tonight (sorry matt, but maybe i'll be by
the foundry tomarrow). It was a good time, the faces change but
it's all the same. Saw Jill, Shanna, Dwight, Tyler [now on
staff], and Dawn, just to name a few. Also met some people who I
didn't know, but had mutual friends. Anyhow, Guess VI has a
closing time...how strange is that?
Last friday
night I taught my first red cross class on my own and to the scariest group of people I may ever teach to (16,
11-year-old girls afterschool on a friday). Went real well, and
the girls did a great job of paying attention. Getting excited,
because saturday is the first cpr class i'm going to teach. I'm a
co-teacher, so i'm not alone on this one, and its not the full cpr
battery, just infant and child. Wish me luck.
So, tonight I found out that many people don't know I'm
married, so consider this your official announcement if you weren't in
the know (eh um...*shanna* it's
like girls have ring detectors built in from birth) . My wife is a really cool woman that I've known since
highschool and was my first prom date, so that's full circle i
guess. If your from the crusade crowd you may not know her,
because she never came to crusade, but you may if you went to Grace.
Volleyball is now over, so I'm gonna get a chance to calm down, and come back strong...later.
Been working on a website at work...if you like to break
things, please try, then tell me how you did.
www.gogamers.com/get_in_the_game. Its not in finished
status yet, so its impossible to really do anything on the site, and
you wont be able to checkout without a paypal developers account, but
if you need a hint to break it: I'm sure there's an easy way to break
the shopping cart, the script is buggy on some IE6 installs. Not
all... I think my install adds a ';' onto the end of the last cookie
value, where other installs (particularly COX Communications
distributions) do not. Perhaps your browser has another simmilar
problem I haven't corrected yet..I don't know, but there's only one way
to find out!
